I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Coach Prelaz. I knew him from Glebrier days in the 60's and 70's. My best memory is of taking First Aid at Marshall and Eddie being told by his dad to come to the fraternity house and pick me up to make sure that I made it to class on time!

Dear Mrs. Prelaz and Family:
I was Head Manager for Coach Snyder from 1961-1964. I worked directly under Coach Prelaz and have wonderful memories being under his leadership.
During the off season we had many occasions of playing handball and exchanging conversation sitting in the steamroom. Riding the bus together on away trips were opportunities to "share stories".
The last time I had the pleasure of being with him was during a Hall of Fame dinner about 8 years ago. Many of our group were in attendance and we started telling Coach funny stories about our years on the team. We had him laughing so hard I thought he was going to lose his balance.
He not only was our coach but he was in charge of preparing us for life's experiences. Coach was a wonderful teacher and I have always had the highest repsect and admiration for him.
Please accept our deepest sympathy and Coach is a man none of us will ever forget. He was definitely one of our favorites and he will always be a Son of Marshall.
God Bless the Prelaz Family

Dr. Prelaz was one of my favorite people at Marshall University. He was a great educator, great teacher, great coach, great trainer and great player for the Thundering Herd. On top of that, I sat with him in the steam room in the basement of Gullickson Hall many times in the 1970s while in college and got both lessons in life and lifestories of his years with the Marshall football team as a player, as a coach of both wrestling and football and during his many years as MU's first trainer. He will be missed by many in the Marshall community.
My condolences to his family and friends, of which there were many.
