John Jenkyn Miller, Sr.John Jenkyn Miller, Sr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed on Sunday, August 23, 2009 surrounded by his family. He was 83 years old and a native of Huntington, WV. He was born July 26, 1926 to the late Richard Gladden Miller and Miriam Roberts Jenkyn Miller. John attended Huntington High School, Greenbrier Military Academy and Marshall University. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He worked as Vice President and General Sales Manager for Van Zandt Supply Company for 30 years. He also was employed by WOWK TV station as sales executive for 10 years. John had a love of music and especially enjoyed the Big Band and jazz sound of his day. He loved to discuss politics and spent time studying history. He enjoyed life and will be remembered for his outgoing and comical personality. He was preceded in death by his big brother, Richard G. (Dick) Miller, Jr. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Diane DePree Miller and also by his dear sister, Janet Miller Gentry. Survivors also include two sons and daughters-in-law John J. (Ike) Miller, Jr. and Debbie Miller of Geneva, Illinois; Richard R. Miller and Ellen G. Miller of Huntington, WV; and a daughter and son-in-law Mimi M. Wood and Mike Wood of Columbia, TN. Grandchildren include Andrea Miles of Knoxville, TN; Nathan J. DelPapa of Louisville, KY; John J. Miller, III and Matthew B. Miller of Geneva, Ill.; M. Zachory Prewitt of Columbia, TN; Charlotte S. Miller and Sam T. Miller of Huntington, WV. Great grandchildren are Kaiden M. Miller, Harrison A. Miller and Isabella G. DelPapa. Funeral services will be held at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Monsignor Lawrence Luciana. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. and services held at 2:00 P.M. Commitment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Huntington. The Honor Guard of Huntington will conducted military graveside rites. Condolences may be made to the family at www.timeformemory.com/reger.

i knew mr. miller on a business basis but it turned into a personal basis at yorks tv and appliance. when he would call on us as soon as he walked thru the door he would have us laughing so hard we could not work. mr. miller was a fine man and i will miss him deeply. i won't tell you what he said when he found out my wife was having twins but i still laugh at it today. god bless you john and your family
