1918 - 2009
Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother DORTHEA ELISABETH FREDEKING passed away November 21, 2009, in Landrum, South Carolina. Born June 28, 1918, in Temperance Hall, Dekalb County, Tennessee, she was married on December 31,1938 to her sweetheart, Robert Richard Fredeking, a Huntington attorney, who predeceased her. She was a traveler of the world, making her last international trip to the Bahamas at age 89. She called Huntington, West Virginia, home, spent her winters in Stuart, Florida, and as much time as possible on the Greenbrier River. She was a member of PEO, an international sisterhood, and an entrepreneur of four businesses, The Upstairs Room, Reflections in Huntington, and Frock and Frill and Sandsifter in Stuart. She was a past president of the Flower and Field Garden Club, Cabell County Bar Auxiliary and a past member of Cabell County Democratic Executive Committee. She is survived by her eldest daughter Artie Jo Chapman; her son Robert Richard Fredeking II and daughter-in-law Debbie Fredeking; her daughter Lisa Spriggs and son-in-law Guy Spriggs; her son-in-law James Brown; and her brother, Frank V. Williams Jr. She is predeceased by two children, Robert Richard Fredeking Jr., who died soon after birth, and her beloved daughter Darleen Brown, who passed away July 2008, her brother J.C. Williams, and grandson Gregory H. Brown. She was the monarch of a family who loved her dearly. She is survived by her grandchildren, Michael Brown, Kathy Worrell, Arden, Richard III, Molly and Bobby Fredeking, Robert Chapman IV and Kristie Chapman, Richard Chapman, Jay Chapman, John and Luli Chapman, Macon White, Tiffany Parsons, Guy Spriggs II, Barclay Spriggs, and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Enslow Park Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at 1 p.m. (1338 Enslow Blvd, Huntington WV 25701). Her eight loving grandsons will be her pallbearers. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Enslow Park Presbyterian Church for a memorial in the name of R.R. and Elisabeth Fredeking. Reger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made to the family at www.timeformemory.com/reger.

Dick and Lisa, Karen and I were so very sorry to her about your mom. I have very fond memories of both your mother and dad from my childhood and teen years. I especially have joyful recollections of our family trips to your camp on the river. God bless you and your families, I know you will miss her very much.

I am so sorry for your loss for we just went through this a short time ago. Doesn't it help knowing what a long, fruitful life she lived and how proud she was of her family.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you in the coming days.
