My heart cries with the family today. Mr. Murphy "John" a dear family friend and my former teacher will be missed. It won't be the same returning to Buffalo Valley and not seeing him among family. My love and sympathy to Clinton, Jack, Wanda Lee, and all the family, especially my sister, and nieces. May the Lord comfort everyone as he is now at rest. A dear special man to many!

I have such fond memories of Mr. Murphy from History Class and even after I had left school and my daughter played several sports and he would always have an encouraging word for Erin (now 30 and expecting first child) at the door when we were entering the new gym at Buffalo High School. I would run into him at Wal Mart in recent years and he always had a smile and asked about my brothers, sisters and my daughter. He was such a special man and will be missed. I just lost my dear Mother July 1, and he and she would always have a conversation when we would see him. My sincere condolences. Ronda Fortner

To the family of Mr. Murphy, I was very blessed to have been taught by this wonderful man! He made American History come alive. I have thought about Mr. Murphy many times over the years as I am now a teacher. I have told my classes about him and how he made me love history. He motivated me as well as gave me a deep rooted passion for learning more. Thank you for sharing him with so many students. He was truly a GREAT man!
