Harold Ray Burt, Sr. Click for Condolences      Printable Version

Harold Ray Burt, Sr., 75 of Quincy, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2003, in Heartland of Bellefontaine.

He was born in Leflore, Miss., on May 1, 1928, a son of the late Roy and Freddie Mims Burt.

On Dec. 22, 1956, he married theformer Anita Maria Dora Hess in Troy and she preceded him in death Nov. 19, 2002. Also preceding him in death were two sons, Harol Burt, Jr. and Henry Burt; brother, Stanley Ray Burt; and daughter-in-law, Rose Burt.

Survivors include sons, Frank (Vanessa) Burt of Lakeview and Roger Burt of Sidney; daughters, Bernice (Trent) Miller of Lakeview and Tammy (Ralph) Bortree of Bellefontaine; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ginny Burt of DeGraff; brother, Troy (Evelyn) Burt of West Liberty; and sisters, Bernice Hopson of Yazoo, Miss., and Estelle Smith of Chatham, Miss.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and retired as a machinist at Copeland Corp. in Sidney.

The Rev. LeRoy Hughes will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery in Quincy.
