Doris W. Carr Floate, 90, of Springfield, and formerly of Rosewood, died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Community Hearth and Home in Springfield.

She was born in Rosewood on Sept. 6, 1912, a daughter of the late Gerald Orvin and Bessie Anne Stephenson Weimer.

On April 6, 1936, she married Cecil Millard Carr and he preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1986. She married Clare E. Floate of Maple Rapid, Mich., on Sept. 14, 1988, and he died July 22, 1999.

Survivors include, sons, Jerrold. W. (Rita) Carr of Rosewood and Dennis L. Carr of Macon, Ga; grandchildren, Cynthia (Gary) Clark of Rosewood, Tracy Car of St. Paris, Todd (Denise) Carr of Troy and Jodi (Kevin) Beckstedt of Hardin; great-grandchildren, Carly and David Clark and Brandon, Shelby, Haley and Matthew Carr; stepgrandchildren, Liane Tyler, Lyle (Marge) Float and Larry (Virgilence) Floate, all of Michigan; and one cousin, Drothy Hinds of Wisconsin.

She was a secretary at Graham North Elementary School for eight years and retired from Fairlawn High School in 1977 after 11 years of service.

A 1930 graduate of Harrison Adams High School in Rosewood, she was a member of the Rosewood United Methodist Church and the Sarah Elizabeth Chapter Order of Eastern Star 335 and a former member of the Rosewood Homemakers Club.

The Rev. Beverly Avers conducts funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment is in Rosedale Cemetery in Careysville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, 2600 Limestone St., Springfield 45503.
