Hugh E. Ware, 87, of Quincy, died Saturday, Oct.4, 2003, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney.

The Shelby County native was born May 20, 1916, a son of the late Vern and Letha Dill Ware.

On April 17, 1938, he married Mary F. Barthauer in Bellefontaine, and she survives.

He was a machinist at the Le Roi Company in Sidney.

A graduate of Sidney High School, he was a member of Quincy United Methodist Church and the Good Sam Camping Club.

Survivors also include two sons, Richard (Doris) Ware of Versailles and Kenneth (Lynn) Ware of Quincy; one daughter, Patricia Wise of Xenia; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Ware; one brother, Norman Ware; and one sister, Evelyn Siney.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. N. Matthew Wright will officiate and burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Quincy United Methodist Church and the Quincy-Miami Township Rescue Squad.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Hugh. My parents in California, Helen and Harry Strayer said they had just talked of you both. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
