Catherine Belle Shipp Krisher, 94, went home to meet the Lord, having passed away at her home at 9:17 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She was born in Central Lake, Mich., on Dec. 3, 1909, a daughter of the late Frank and Lottie Raudabaugh Shipp, and was raised in the Roundhead-McGuffey area. She was a graduate of Roundhead High School and the Lima Business School.
On Nov. 6, 1929, she married Oved Carl Krisher in Tiffin. As a farm wife, she lived and worked side by side with her husband on thier farm north of Logansville. He died July 24, 1970.
She was known for her excellence in cooking and baking. She had recently moved to a smaller home where she was able to stay until her death. Over the years, she also worked for the DeGraff Livestock Sale Barn, Fuson's IGA Store and Williams Insurance, all in DeGraff.
She was a member of the DeGraff Homemakers Club for 30 years and was also a member of the Logansville Christian Church, Pleasant Grange and the Logan County Friendly Senior Center in Bellefontaine.
Survivors include three daughters, LaQuita (Donald) Roach of DeGraff, Sharon (David) Proffitt of Bellefontaine and Patricia Scanlan of Joshua, Texas; 14 grandchildren,Denver Proffitt of Jackson Center, Gary Proffitt of Bellefontaine, Roger Proffitt of Quincy, Daryl Proffitt of Georgia, Deborah Proffitt Anderson of Mechanicsburg, Chris Hall of Masnfield, Texas, Tim Hall of Venus, Texas, Todd Potter of Joshua, Texas and Greg Krisher, Teresa Krisher, Sandy Krisher Jones, Curtis Roach, Scott Roach and Diane Proffitt Metz, all of DeGraff; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her only son, Lamon M. Krisher; one sister, Verla Shipp Acheson; and four brothers, John, George, Robert and Jim Shipp.
The Rev. Floyd Lundy conducts funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff. The family receives friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial is in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Tricare Hospice, Mary Rutan Hospital Speech Therapy Department and the rescue squad of the donors' choice.
