1920 - 2004
The celebration has begun for Neva Gathel Boggs Freshour, 84, of DeGraff, formerly of Springfield. She has accepted the invitation of the King to become a permanent resident of the Celestial city and reside in an incomparable home prepared just for her.
Born in Blain, Ky., on Feb. 27, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie C. and Bertha J. Griffith Boggs.
She leaves behind a treasured husband of 68 years, Stanley "Dutch" Freshour, whom she married Aug. 31, 1935, in Waverley, Ohio; a son and beloved daughter-in-law, Eddie (Nancy) Freshour; one granddaughter and her husband, Debbie (Rob) Cutlip; two beloved great-grandchildren, Tiffani and Zachery Cutlip; an incredible beloved family of New Beginnings Community Church in DeGraff, where she is known as "Nanny"; and a host of precious lives she has influenced and prayed for over the past many years.
She was instrumental in the planting of two churches, taught Sunday School classes, was a Sunday School superintendent, Ladies president, church secretary and many other functions for the past 50 years. She leaves in her wake a vast array of people she has mentored as well as being an accomplished seamstress and created many crotcheted masterpieces.
Her departure will leave planet Earth poorer, but heaven's treasure is increased exponentially.
Viewing is from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, where her son, the Rev. C. Eddie Freshour, Pastor of New Beginnings Community Church, conducts a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial is in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in New Carlisle.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Beginnings Community Church, DeGraff and Tricare Hospice.

My family first met Gathel & Dutch @ the Pentecostal Church of Christ on National Rd, Springfield, in 1966. Gathel was a true Christian woman who shared her values, love of life and of Christ in her every word, every action. She was truly an inspiration to all, young and old, the many years she was a member of the church. My parents, Alva (Happy) and Anna Bussard, my sister, Lori (Lynch) and I were members of the church for many years and grew very fond of Gathel and Dutch. Over the years we lost touch but now & then had the pleasure of seeing them out.
My family would like to extend their condolences to Dutch, Eddie, Nancy, Debbie & her family in their loss. We lost my father on October 31, 2001, so we can relate to how difficult this time is for everyone who loves Gathel. All the pain & sorrow is now gone for both of them and they are at peace.
Our prayers are with you,
Anna Bussard, Springfield, Ohio
Alvina & Steve Davis, New Port Richey, Florida
Lori & Howard Lynch, Springfield, Ohio
