G. Emerson Sherer, 88, of DeGraff, died at 10:47 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2004, in Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney.
He was born in Bloomfield Township on Feb. 6, 1916, a son of the late George and Carrie Brunner Sherer. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Brunner Sherer.
On Jan. 28, 1976, he married Ninnette Wren in DeGraff and she survives, along with daughters, Barbara Watts of Colorado and Suzanne (Robert) Coffman of Huntsville; two stepsons, Michael (Sharon) Wren of New Lebanon and Tim Wren of Bellefontaine; a sister, Cleo Sherer of Dayton; grandchildren, Dan (Julie) Hughes of Connecticut, Christy (Tim) Ott of Michigan, Laurie (Kevin) Harris of Bellefontaine, Carrie (James) Fichter of Colorado, Mindy Labor and Jeff (Brandie) Wren, both of DeGraff, and Holly (David) Reis of Cincinnati; and 12 great-grandchildren.
For 82 years, he was a member of the Rum Creek United Methodist Church. A farmer and a member of the Logan County Farm Bureau, he was a charter member of the 61-year-old Logan County Agrarian Club.
He was a member of the Lewistown School Board in the 1940s and served as president in 1949.
The Revs. Terry G. Washburn and Seeyoung Lee conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Interment is in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.
