Charles Corwin Stryker, 78, of Quincy, died at 4:55 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2004, at his home.
He was born Nov. 24, 1925, in Champaign County, a son of the late George M. and Harriet Looker Styker. On May 14, 1952, he married Bette J. Newman in DeGraff and she survives.
Other survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Paula (Charles) Bell, of Quincy and Fran A. (William) Slat, of Brooklyn, Mich.; grandsons Jeffrey and Joe Slat both of Mich. and Jason Bell, of Ohio.
He is preceded in death by brothers Verle Stryker, Marvin Stryker, Russell Stryker; sisters Mildred Kempfer, Phyllis Copas, Pauline Ammon and Ethel Stryker.
Mr. Stryker was a lifetime member of Logan Memorial Post #3528 VFW, Quincy. He attended Quincy United Methodist Church and was a World War II Army Veteran. He worked for 31 years with the State of Ohio Highway Department having retired in April of 1991.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, with Rev. N. Matthew Wright officiating. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Quincy. The Logan County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
