Vernon William "Bud" Dressback, 78, of DeGraff, died at 11:05 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Born on Sept. 5, 1925, in Newport, he was a son of the late Bernard A. and Amanda May Byler Dressback.
He married Betty Scherer in Urbana on July 4, 1962, and she died Dec. 21, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Bernard W. (Nancy) Dressback of DeGraff; two daughters, Janice (Gerald) Davis of DeGraff and Connie (Carl) Butler of Avondale, Ariz.; two brothers, Carl L. Dressback of Sidney and Robert M. (Freda) Dressback of West Liberty; two sisters, Lola May Wise of Russells Point and Hazel D. (Paul) Heil of Dover, Fla.; eight grandchldren, Jeremy Davis, Joey Davis, Brian Dressback, Cody Dressback, Brittany Dressback, Summer Dressback, Bradley Brown and Aierel Alvarez; two stepgranddaughters, Tauna (Nick) Heisler and Jill (Gordon) Perthemore; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
The retired farmer owned and operated the DeGraff Creamery for many years and also worked for many years at Sidney Aluminum. a longtime member of the DeGraff Fire Department, he was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of Logan Memorial Post 3528 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Quincy. He was a former member of the DeGraff Board of Public Affairs and also had served as DeGraff water superintendent.
The funeral service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The Rev. N. Matthew Wright officiates and burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
