Alice Mae Roby, 91, formerly of West Liberty and DeGraff, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, in the home of her daughter in Muncie, Ind.
She was born in DeGraff on December, 9, 1912, a daughter of the late George and Esther Carr Huber.
On March 5, 1933, she married Wilbur W. Roby in Carolton, Ky., and he died March 31, 1997. She also was preceded in death by a son, Robert Roby; two brothers, Melvin and Harley Huber; and two sisters, Lillian Lowe and Mary Lou Columbur.
Survivors include three sons, Richard W. (Joan) Roby of DeGraff, Donald R. (Shirley) Roby of Rocky River and Larry A. (Emma) Roby of Chesapeake, Va.; two daughters, Constance J. (Marvin) Swartz of Muncie, Ind., and Jeanne C. (Larry) Hill and Susan L. White, both of Fairfield; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, she workded a number of years at Sims and Huber Transfer and Storage in Bellefontaine.
She was a member of the Gretna Brethren Church and its Gleaners WMS. She also attended Grace Baptist Church in Muncie.
Her hobbies included embroidery, needlework, cooking, baking and entertaining.
The Rev. Lynn Mercer conducts a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at Gretna Brethren Church. Burial is in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Libery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funreral Home in DeGraff.
