Ned Raymond Persinger, 76, of Rosewood, died at 1:44 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Pemberton, a son of the late Raymond and Florence Neese Persinger.
On Oct. 26, 1947, he married Carol F. Vorpe in Rosewood and she survives in Rosewood.
Mr. Persinger is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Wesley (Sandy) Persinger, of Panasoffkee, Fla., Nathan (Tonya) Persinger of Quincy and Tim (Karen) Persinger of St. Paris; daughters and sons-in-law Debbie (Brent) Hablutzel of Upper Lake, Calif., Linda (David) Fay of Christiansburg and Melissa (David) Dennis of Cincinnati; a daughter, Susan Spires, of Rosewood; a sister Ruth Freese, of Springfield; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Robert and Ronald Persinger.
He was a farmer and a member of Rosewood United Methodist Church, Texel Sheep Breeders Association and Champaign County Farm Bureau. He was active in his church. He was a member of Central Ohio Emmaus Community, Marysville, and a 1946 graduate of Harrison Adams School, Rosewood. He retired from Quincy Foundry.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Rosewood United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bev Avers officiating. His body will be cremated following the funeral service and the ashes will be buried in Cedar Point Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Adams Township Fire Department.
