
Roy Ottis Helmandollar, Jr., 76, of Quincy died at 7:46 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2004 at his residence.
The son of the late Roy Ottis Sr. and Rosa Orlena Walter Helmandollar was born July 11, 1928, in Princeton, W.Va.
On Sept. 23, 1950, in Quincy, he married Vera Lee Douglas who survives along with five sons, Steve Lee Helmandollar and Kirk E. Helmandollar, both of Quincy, Keith Douglas Helmandollar of New Bremen, Robin Shane Helmandollar of Columbus and Kim Jon (Teresa) Helmandollar of Piqua; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother Robert (Phyllis) Helmandollar of West Liberty; eight sister, Betty Fox of DeGraff, Marguerite Platt of Louisiana, Phyllis Skidmore of Indiana, Christina Mynes of Youngstown, Linda Lunsford of Kentucky, Elaine Hall of Wapakoneta, Deloris (Charles) Korte of Arizona and Rebecca (Robert) Jolliff of Bellefontaine.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lee Helmandollar; one brother, Dennis Wayne Helmandollar; and one sister, Constance Talmadge.
A 1946 graduate of Quincy High School, he was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II.
He was a past commander of Logan Memorial VFW Post 3528, Quincy and was a member of American Legion Post 217, Sidney.
He retired from Wagner Manufacturing in Sidney after 28 years as a polisher.
Calling hours at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, are from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. His body will be cremated and the ashes will beburied at a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Fairview Cemetery, Quincy, with Chaplain Phillip Chilcote officiating. The Logan County Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the cemetery and a dinner follows in the Quincy community building at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
