Charles Otho Jones I, 78, of Bellefontaine, died at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, in his home.
He was born in DeGraff on Aug. 16, 1926, a son of the late Clyde O. and Mattie Viola Nevers Jones. He also was preceded in death by brothers, George William Jones, Alfonso Jones and Paul Jones; sisters, Martha Jones, Shirley Viola Lorton and Esther Earick; and an infant sibling.
On Aug. 29, 1948, he married Charlotte W. Hinkle in Covington, Ky., and she survives, along with sons, Charles otho Jones II and Clyde (Renia) Jones, both of Bellefontaine; daughters, Candi (Tom) Dear, Cathy (Tony) Kieffer and Cyndi (Tony) Brown, all of Bellefontaine, and Charlotte Vanessa (C.W.) Cruze of Greenville; sister, Ethel Mae Ward of Quincy and Rosa Mary (Don) Heffner of West Carrollton; 29 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He formerly lived in DeGraff and Dunkirk and drove a bulk feed truck for Hirschfeld Agri-Service in DeGraff. He also was a house parent for Agape Group Home in Dunkirk for 19 years and was a self-employed fence builder.
Pastor David Schneer conducts a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
