Former Bellefontaine resident Cornelius Roger Theadore "Golden Eagle" Allen, 74, of Port Jefferson, died at 3:20 a.m. Sunday, May 29, 2005, in Vandalia.
He was born in Shelby County on Oct. 29, 1930, a son of the late Arvie Franklin and Lizzie May Flemming Allen.
On March 14, 1953, he married the former Edna May Cotterman in Richmond, Ind., and she died April 15, 1995. He also was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Theadore Allen; and 20 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include sons, David Lee Close of Pensacola, Fla., and Roger J. (Kathy) Allen of Sidney; daughters, Starlene (Richard) Ordean of Port Jefferson and Venessa (Michael) Bowers of Bellefontaine; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Allen of Quincy, Lillie Scott of Lakeview, Judy Allen of Eustit, Fla., Rebecca Fulmer of Roundhead, Nellie Pinder of Houston, Texas, Annette Cotterman of Palasaides and Phoebe Cotterman of DeGraff; and brother-in-law, Jud Cotterman Jr. of Gahanna.
A Native American, he was a member of the Mingo Nation United Remnant Band in Findlay.
He worked as a security guard and was a U.S. Army veteran, MIA and POW of the Korean Conflict.
The Rev. Jerry Allen conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, where calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial is in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.
