Wanda Lorine Ely Click for Condolences      Printable Version

Wanda Lorine Ely, 74, of Bellefontaine, died Friday, July 8, 2005, in Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

She was born in Bradford, Ark., on Aug. 16, 1930, a daughter of the late Oakley and Mabel James O'Brien. She also was preceded in death by two sister, Mamie O'Brien Long and Odelene O'Brien Knear; and a nephew, George Steven Long.

On June 29, 1950, she married Wayne F. Ely in Rosewood and he survives.

Survivors also include two nieces, Patricia (Robert) Rush of Truman, Ark., and Linda Armstrong of Greenville; a nephew, Bill (Patricia) Knear of DeGraff; and several other relatives and friends.

A 1948 graduate of DeGraff High School, she retired as a procurement officer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base after 30 years of service.

She enjoyed bowling, golfing and antiques.

The Rev. Beverly Avers conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, where calling is from 6 to o8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Osteoporosis Foundation.

We are shocked to learn of Wanda's death, and join her family in grieving her loss. There will never be another Wanda! Our love and sympathy, Walter and Adele and the Ebert family

The news of Wanda's death was a shock to us. Our deepest sympathies go out to Wayne. I will always remember Wanda as a kind lady with a great sense of humor. Debbie, Rachel and Virginia James
