Catherine Alice Long, 98, of DeGraff, died at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at Logan Acres.
She was born in Wallen, Ind. on June 12, 1907, a daughter of the late David Curtis and Lillie Dora Black Briscoe.
On April 22, 1936, she married E. Grant Long in DeGraff and he died May 20, 1944. She also was preceded in death by a brother, William O. "Bud" Briscoe; and a sister, Mary Mabel Briscoe.
Survivors include a son, Ted (Sarah) Long of Bellefontaine; a granddaughter, Lisa Organ of Oklahoma; one great-grandson; and several cousins.
A 1927 graduate of Quincy High School and a charter member of the DeGraff Homemakers Club, she worked at A.J. Miller in Bellefontaine during World War II. She also worked at Casebolt's and Wirick's grocery stores in Quincy.
The Rev. Ron Irick conducts a funeral at 2 p.m. Friday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where calling is two hours prior. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
