Pearl Elizabeth BertoletPearl Elizabeth Bertolet, 87, of DeGraff, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at Green Hills Center, West Liberty.

A native of Pleasant Township, Logan County, she was born May 18, 1918, a daughter of the late Raymond E. and Hazel M. Stottlemyer Black.

A 1936 graduate of Quincy High School, she retired as a senior confidential clerk from the General Telephone Company in Santa Monica, Calif.

She married Roy L. Madden on April 4, 1937, in Quincy, and he preceded her in death May 18, 1945. On May 3, 1947, she married Robert L. Willis in Los Angeles.

She married Joseph B. Bertolet on Aug. 19, 1986, in Elkton, Md., and he died May 28, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth R. (Jane) Madden of Sidney and G. Michael (Connie) Madden of DeGraff; four daughters, Jane Willis of DeGraff, Rita F. (Richard) Maier of Bellefontiaine, Nina C. (John) Ulmer of Tavares, Fla., and Sherry Suzanne (Gary) Petersen of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three sisters, Lucille (John) Roby of Quincy, Dorothy (Charles) Roby of DeGraff and Hazel (Howard) Crouch of Huntington, Pa., and Venice, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchidlren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Anita Lane, Marie Comer and Marguerite Comer; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where the funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Julia L. Ronngren officiating. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Green Hills Day Break program.

May God comfort you at your loss. I knew Pearl for a brief time here at Green Hills. Isaiah 40:31 those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
