Ruth Opal Knight Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1911 - 2006 Ruth Opal Knight, 94, of DeGraff, died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2006, at Logan Acres. She was born September 16, 1911, in Pleasant Township, Logan County, a daughter of the late John L. and Etta Shaw Hengsteler. On June 19, 1938, she married Wesley J. Knight in Logan County and he preceded her in death August 24, 1957. Survivors include sons, Donald E. (Diane) Knight of Jackson Center and David P. (Nancy) Knight of DeGraff; grandchildren, Brian P. (Stephanie) Knight, Kevin P. (Janell) Knight and Kelly J. (Eric) Kauffman, all of DeGraff, and Douglas D. Knight and Daniel E. (Julia) Knight, both of Cincinnati; and seven great-grandchildren. A 1929 graduate of DeGraff High School, she earned a teaching certificate from Bowling Green State University and a bachelor of science degree from Urbana University. An elementary school teacher for 33 years, mostly in the Indian Lake and Graham school districts. She was a member of the Bellefontaine First Church of God, its Missionary Society, DeGraff Homemakers Club, the 20th Centruty Club, the Logan County Retired Teachers Association and the Urbana Senior Citizens. An avid world traveler, she visited all 50 states and some 27 countries. The Revs. Gary Brown and Ron Irick conduct a funeral at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sudnay. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff. Memorial contirbutions may be made to the First Church of God Mission Board and the Riverside EMS.

Donald & David & Families You have my sympathy and prayers.Of course as many can say; your mom was my teacher. All my remerbrances of her are only good. She probably had to correct me many times,some with the board of education to the seat of understanding. I don't remember any of those but I'm sure without a doubt they helped me to turn out much better than I would have otherwise. I always liked her and have mentioned her often over the years. She was a wonderful teacher and a good example. She had some flowers in a vase and it was made just like an elephant. I liked it so well and when she was done with it at school she gave it to me. I still have it; 50+ years later. Well this is kind of long but I'm sure volumes could be written about the good things about you mother.

May God be with all of your during this time of loss. Ruth left many wonderful memories for the lives she has touched. Her family has given her many reasons to be proud of the legacy that she has left the rest of us here on earth.
