Evelyn Louise Cox Foreman

Evelyn Louise Cox Foreman, 86, of Quincy, died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at the Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty.

She was born Feb. 17, 1920, near Maplewood, Shelby County, a daughter of Allen Floyd and Leah Hazel Mason Cox.

On July 26, 1942, she married William “Bill” D. Foreman in Quincy, and he preceded her in death March 6, 1995. Together they owned and operated the Quincy Garage for 49 years.

Survivors include four daughters, Jill (Jerry) Hultin of New York, N.Y., Gail (John) Nelson of Bolingbrook, Ill., Christy (Robert) Turner of Omaha, Neb. and Luan (Douglas) Lamb of Bellefontaine; four sisters, Betty Bell of Quincy, Sue McLaughlin of Houston, Texas, Barbara (Vann) Atkinson of Sidney and Shirley (Boots) Guey of Rosewood; nine grandchildren, Dionne Nelson of Chicago, Jeremy Hultin of New Haven, Conn., Jedd (Aimee Jordan) Hultin of Grandview, Lori (Hal) Ackley of West Liberty, Jennifer (Aaron) Reames of Salem, Mass., Ben (Lesley) Turner of Denver, Kelly Turner of Philadelphia and Christopher Lamb and Allison Lamb, both of Bellefontaine; and two great-grandchildren.

One brother, Marvin Cox, preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and active member of the Quincy United Methodist Church, where she served terms as both treasurer and president of its Women’s Society. She was a member of the Sidney area Emmaus Community and was involved in several local civic organizations.

Following graduation from Quincy High School in 1937, she attended classes and earned a degree in cosmetology.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Rexer- Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff. A memorial service is at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, at the Quincy United Methodist Church with Pastor N. Matthew Wright officiating. According to her wishes, her body is being cremated and ashes interred in Fairview Cemetery, Quincy.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Quincy United Methodist Church and the Emerald Activity Fund at Green Hills Retirement Community, West Liberty. Express condolences at www.timeformemory.com/madden.
