Roland Edward Harrington Sr.

Roland Edward Harrington Sr., 75, of Bellefontaine and formerly of DeGraff, died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

A native of Bellefontaine, he was born Jan. 14, 1931, a son of the late George E. and Opla F. Marquis Harrington.

On June 4, 1950, he married Blanche Louise Ferguson in Bellefontaine, and she preceded him in death Aug. 6, 2004.

Also surviving are five sons, Roland E. (Marie-Celine) Harrington of Delaware, William N. (Kristi) Harrington of West Liberty, David (Monica) Harrington of Green Pond, S.C., Richard (Andrea) Harrington of Millville, N.J., and Joseph (Carol) Harrington of Snow Flake, Ariz.; two daughters, Dianna (Bill) Hurley of Huntsville and Kathi (Rick) Hoops of Lewistown; one sister, Dorothy Wallace of Bellefontaine; 15 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and friend and constant companion Darlene Richard of Bellefontaine.

Two brothers, Francis Harrington and Pat Harrington, are deceased. A retired machinist, he formerly was manager of the tire department at Montgomery Ward in Bellefontaine and had also worked at Rosewood Machine in Rosewood.

He was a member of the Muchinippi Christian Church and the Logan County Chapter of the Mended Hearts support group. He also was a volunteer at Mary Rutan Hospital and was a former member of the Pleasant Grange. The family receives friends Saturday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, from 1 p.m. until the funeral at 3 p.m. The Rev. Edward Shady officiates and burial is in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Mary Rutan Hospital Cardiac Rehab and the Logan County Chapter of Mended Hearts. Express condolences at www.timeformemory.com/madden
