Marvin Wayne Allen, 92, of Lakeview and formerly of DeGraff, died at 5:59 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Mary Rutan Hospital.

Born Jan. 1, 1914, in Minford, he was a son of the late Alva Ethan and Della M. Rambo Allen. On April 15, 1939, in Vanceburg, Ky., he married Jean McKenzie.

She died Feb. 5, 1984. Also preceding him in death were a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Vickie Stephenson Allen; four brothers, Wilbur Allen, Wilford Allen, Cleo Allen and Ferdie Allen; three sisters, Helen Shoemaker, Hazel Dever and Hilda West; one son-in-law, Harold Manahan.

Survivors include one daughter Geneva Manahan of Bellefontaine; one son, David (Deb) Allen of North Lewisburg; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A graduate of Minford High School, he worked as a gravel miner in Portsmouth before coming to this area. He was a farmer and also worked at Copeland Corporation in Sidney for 25 years. A lover of the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Calling hours are Wednesday from noon until the funeral begins at 2 p.m. at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
