Roger Dale Carman Sr. 62, of West Liberty, died at 11:23 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2006, at the V.A. Medical Center, Dayton.

He was born in Jackson on July 31, 1943, a son of the late Byron and Leafy May Walker Carman. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Owen Carman; and a sister, Carol Peele.

Survivors include a son, Roger D. (Kimberly) Carman Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Shannon (Steve) Akers of Dayton; brothers, James (Nancy) Carman of Lakeview, Lawrence "Bud" (Donna) Carman of Jackson Center and William "Butch" (Sharon) Carman of DeGraff; a sister, Juanita Lattimer of West Liberty; seven grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Jamie, Justin, Taylor, Tyler, Candace and Kayla; and two great-grandchildren.

A self-employed construction contractor and U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, he was a member of the American Legion Post 173, Veterans of Foreign 1080 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2166, all in Bellefontaine, and AMVETS Post 39 and Indian Lake Moose Lodge, Lakeview.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where a funeral begins at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.

To Shannon and Littel Roger, I don't know if you know me or remember me but I'm Butch's daughter and I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry about Uncle Roger.
