
Lucille "Lucy" Roby, 86, of Quincy, died at 10:55 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Born Oct. 29, 1920, in Quincy, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Edgar and Hazel Mae Stottlemyer Black. She married John Melvin Roby on Oct. 29, 1939, in DeGraff, and he preceded her in death Sept. 14, 2006.
Survivors include three daughters, Judith A. (Tom) DeLong of DeGraff and Rita F. (Richard) Maier and Nina C. (John) Ulmer, both of Bellefontaine; four sons, Rick R. Roby of DeGraff, Steven J. (Susan) Roby of Napoleon, Kenneth R. (Jane) Madden of Sidney and G. Michael (Connie) Madden of DeGraff; two sisters, Dorothy (Charles) Roby of DeGraff and Hazel (Howard) Crouch of Huntingdon, Pa.; 20 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She also was preceded in death by one son, John M. Roby Jr.; four sisters, Anita Lane, Marie Comer, Marguerite "Maggie" Comer and Pearl E. Bertolet; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
A lifelong homemaker and a 1938 graduate of Quincy High School, she was a member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She was a longtime supporter of area high school band boosters and altered all the band uniforms for many years. In addition, she was an election poll worker. A 53-year volunteer 4-H adviser, she was recognized in 2003 with an award for 50 years of service. Her candy making skills also were well-known.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where the funeral begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Julia L. Ronngren conducts the service and burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Hemochromatosis Society and the charities of the donors' choices.
