William Albert Hess

William Albert Hess, 71, of DeGraff, died at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, Springfield.

He was born in Dayton on Oct. 7, 1935, a son of the late Frank William and Ruth Irene Henrich Hess. He also was preceded in death by a stillborn brother.

On Oct. 20, 1956, he married the former Beverly Ann Vigler in Vandalia and she survives, along with daughters, Connie (Todd) Sellars of Springhills and Debrah (Jim) Faulder of St. Paris; a sister, Hilda Karns of Englewood; grandchildren, Tiffany Bishop, Seth Bishop and Grace Sellars, all of Springhills; stepgrandchildren, Whitney Sellars and Ashley Sellars, both of Woodstock; and one great-grandchild.

A retired salesman, he was a member of the Philadelphia Lutheran Church, Pleasant Grange 2124 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed building things, helping others and camping.

Pastor Teri Lynn Forbes conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Philadelphia Lutheran Church. Burial is in Philadelphia Cemetery, with military rites by the Logan County Honor Guard. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff.
