Rocky Lynn Johnson, 62, of Quincy, died at 11:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
Born on Saturday, July 29, 1944, in Lima, he was a son of the late Scott Winfield Johnson Sr. and of Lucille Althea Harrod Johnson who survives in Kenton.
He married Sharon Marie Wiles on June 28, 1971, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and she also survives. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Winfield Johnson Jr. Other survivors include a sister, Bette Johnson of Kenton; four nieces; and two nephews.
He was a 1963 graduate of Jackson Center High School and was employed at HBD Industries in Bellefontaine. A Vietnam War veteran who served in the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the Miami Valley Post 652 American Legion, DeGraff, the Frank D. Castle Post 1080 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bellefontaine, and he was a past commander of Logan Memorial Post 3528 VFW, Quincy.
He also was a member of the West Liberty Horseshoe Club and Pleasant Grange 2124, DeGraff, and he was a Wilson hospice volunteer. He enjoyed fishing and square and round dancing and had been a member of the former Gateway Squares Square Dance Club in Sidney.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, where services are at 1 p.m. Monday, with Chaplain Philip K. Chilcote officiating. Burial is in the Highland
Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, where the Logan County Honor Guard conducts military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice.
