
Clyde Leonard Roby, 99, of West Liberty, died at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at the Green Hills Center, West Liberty.
Born Sunday, Sept. 1, 1907, in Carrollton in Carroll County, he was a son of the late Edgar I. and Inez Mabel Kincade Roby. On Aug. 29, 1933, he married Marjorie Carolyn Mohr at the Stony Creek Church of the Brethren, and she died Sept. 23, 1993.
Survivors include one son, Dennis (Phyllis) Roby of Warrensburg, Ill.; one daughter, Janet (Ben) Crosswhite of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Charles E. (Dorothy) Roby of DeGraff; one sister, Mary Inez Haas of Jackson Center; four grandchildren, Bruce (Shirley) Crosswhite of Tampa, Fla., Diana Budde of Nashville, Tenn., Brock (Anne) Roby of Bleasanton, Calif., and Tara (Richard) Hardt of Overland Park, Kan.; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur W. Roby, John M. Roby and George B. Roby.
He was a 1925 graduate of DeGraff High School and an active member of the Stony Creek Church of the Brethren and the Gideons International.
A longtime resident of DeGraff, he was the founder and owner of Roby's Garage, a dealership for International Harvester farm equipment and Studebaker cars and trucks in DeGraff. He also was a farmer.
Calling is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where a funeral begins at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Wayne Downing officiates. Burial is in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
