DeGRAFF – Kevin Lester Wooddell, 35, of DeGraff, died at 1:36 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio, after suffering a heart attack at work.
Born Dec. 5, 1971 in Bellefontaine, he was the son of Lester Duane and Ruth Ann (Holycross) Wooddell. His father preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1985.
Mr. Wooddell was a 1990 graduate of Riverside High School and received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Clark State University in 1992.
He was employed by Bob Caldwell Dodge in Columbus as service manager.
He served on the DeGraff Village Council for 12 years and served on the DeGraff Cemetery Board and was chairman of the DeGraff Park Board while on the council.
An avid NASCAR collector and Notre Dame University fan, he collected Jack Daniels memorabilia. Always quick with a smile and open to sharing his ever-present sense of humor, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was interested in sports, history, politics, genealogy and researching his family’s history.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Ann (Holycross) Wooddell and her companion, Earl Green, of DeGraff; one sister and brother-in-law, Laurie and Randy Clark of Russells Point; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Christopher D. and Carrie (Boyles) Wooddell of St. Paris, Joey and Missy (Harbor) Wooddell of Bellefontaine, Timothy and Zorica (Bjelovuk) Wooddell of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and C. Shannon Wooddell of Bellefontaine; two nieces, Ruth Clark of Russells Point, and Ashton Wooddell of Bellefontaine; two nephews, Joshua Clark of Russells Point, and Andrew Wooddell of St. Paris; one great-nephew, Kolton Clark of Russells Point; twelve aunts and ten uncles, Alice and Ralph Mangen of Versailles, Judy Cost of Versailles, Donald and Ruby Wooddell of Troy, William Wooddell of Covington, Ohio, Tempa and Delmar Cox of West Liberty, Betty and Herb Black of DeGraff, Mary Lou McCoy of Bellefontaine, Don and Joan Holycross, Carroll and Sally Holycross, Darrell and Pat Holycross, Aaron and Ruth Holycross, Raymond and Lois Holycross, all of Bellefontaine, and Shirley L. Johnson of Sidney; dozens of cousins and a multitude of friends.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by two uncles, Richard C. Johnson, of Sidney, Charles Holycross of Texas; and four aunts, Lois Forsythe, Joan Alspaugh, Agnes Murray and Alice Davis.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff with the Rev. Julia L. Ronngren and the Rev. Terry G. Washburn officiating.
Burial will follow in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
