M. Eileen Knief, 92, of Lewistown, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.

She was born in Anna on Feb. 4, 1915, a daughter of the late James O. and Ella Line Snider. On May 8, 1933, she married Eugene Ilo Knief in Newport, Ky., and he preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1985. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Snider and Paul Snider.

Survivors include three sons, Farrell (Roberta) Knief and Dale (Velda) Knief, both of Lewistown, and Jerry (Karen) Knief of DeGraff; a sister, Mary Alice Boyer Richey of Sidney; eight grandchildren, Tim (Debra) Knief, Debby (Lynn) Hooley, Brian (Silvina) Knief, Kim (Doug) Comer, Kevin (Jana) Knief, Kyle (Hillary) Knief, Patricia (Chris) Gamble and Emily (Tim) Davis; and 21 great-grandchildren.

A homemaker and 1932 Anna High School graduate, she was a member of the Bloom Center Methodist Church Ladies Aid. She attended the Muchinippi Church and enjoyed quilting, playing piano and teaching grandchildren and great-grandchildren to play piano.

The Rev. Edward Shady conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.

Memorial contributions may be made to Quincy-Miami Township Fire Department, Riverside squads and charities of the donors' choices.
