
Jacque Forest Stahler
Jacque Forest Stahler, 80, of DeGraff, died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
He was born in Quincy on Jan. 3, 1927, a son of the late Forest Heintz and Selma Etta Coverstone Stahler. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Richard A. Stahler.
On May 8, 1948, he married the former Lila Jean Sherer in Jackson Center and she survives, along with sons, Christopher A. (Alice) Stahler and Kurt (Treva) Stahler, both of DeGraff; daughters, Teresa J. (Jerry) Comer of Strongsville, Julie (Jim) Henahan of Columbus and Amy (David) Cottrell of Cridersville; a sister, Harriet S. (Luther) Mann of Jackson Center; and grandchildren, Andrew (Jenny) Comer, Matthew (Kristin) Comer, Geno Givens, Kirby Stahler, Marcus Stahler, Dennis (Krista) Walter, Douglas (Becky) Walter, Darrin (Kelly) Walter and Adam Stahler.
A 1944 graduate of Jackson Center High School, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired as vice president of operations for Wren Reece Inc. bridge contractors of Napoleon. After retirement, he worked at both Tree Links and Liberty Hills golf courses building bridges. He was a member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church and served as a church trustee for several years.
An avid collector of arrowheads and other Indian artifacts, he was very knowledgeable about Indian history. He also was a member of the Blue Jacket Chapter of the Ohio Archaeological Society, Miami Valley Post 652 American Legion and the Ohio Historical Society. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.
The Rev. Julia L. Ronngren conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at the DeGraff United Methodist Church and burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff.
