Franklin James “Jim” Niswonger, 66, of DeGraff, died at 6:25 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
On May 2, 1975, he married M. Karen Young in Zanesfield and she survives, along with daughters, Kalani (Don) Phillips of Tremont City and Terri (Kevin) White of Bellefontaine; brothers, Larry Niswonger of Bellefontaine and Lee (Debby) Niswonger and Lynn (Susan) Niswonger, both of DeGraff; a sister, Judy (Rodney) McGill of Urbana; and grandchildren, Joshua Lattimer, Jordan Rutan, Keri White, Caleb White, Katie White and Emily White.
He was born in Pemberton on March 13, 1941, a son of Elva Karnes Bollack, who survives in North Lewisburg, and the late Raymond Phillip Niswonger. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Bollack.
A U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam War, he later joined the Army National Guard and worked as an assembler at Navistar in Springfield. He enjoyed Sprint car races, flying model airplanes and spending time with his grandchildren.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, followed at 7 p.m. by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Jeffory D. Willetts in Springhills Cemetery, Springhills.
The Logan County Honor Guard conducts a military service. According to his wishes his body is being cremated.
