Lila Jean Stahler, 81, of DeGraff, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
She was born in Maplewood on May 20, 1926, a daughter of the late Ray William and Adeline Mae Howell Sherer. On May 8, 1948, she married Jacque Forest Stahler in Jackson Center, and he preceded her in death Aug. 22, 2007.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher A. (Alice) Stahler and Kurt (Treva) Stahler, both of DeGraff; three daughters, Teresa J. (Jerry) Comer of Strongsville, Julie (Jim) Henahan of Columbus and Amy (David) Cottrell of Cridersville; two sisters, Wanda (Robert) Kaufman of Jackson Center and Phyllis (Newton) Burgess of Coronado, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Andrew (Jenny) Comer, Matthew (Kristin) Comer, Geno Givens, Kirby Stahler, Marcus Stahler, Dennis (Krista) Walter, Adam Stahler, Douglas (Becky) Walter and Darrin (Kelly) Walter; and 12 greatgrandchildren.
A 1944 Jackson Center High School graduate, she was raised on a dairy farm in the Maplewood area of Shelby County. She was a homemaker and a member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church, where she served as church secretary and was active in the United Methodist Women and other church committees.
She enjoyed flower gardening, especially irises, needlepoint, sewing, knitting, crocheting, bird watching and reading.
The Rev. Julia L. Ronngren conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at DeGraff United Methodist Church. Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff. Burial is in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
