M. Grace Kauffman, 81, of Bellefontaine, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at Logan Acres.

She was born in Lakeview on June 28, 1926, a daughter of the late William Howard Sr. and Minnie Mae Skeen Beatty.

On Sept. 14, 1947, she married Hubert Leslie Kauffman in Bellefontaine and he died Jan. 29, 2006. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Beatty, Paul R. Beatty and William H. Beatty Jr.; and a sister, Maddie Mae Osborne.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Ann (Robert) Stanfield of Rushsylvania; a brother, Charles (Margaret) Beatty of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Scott Stanfield and Charles Stanfield, both of Rushsylvania; and two great-granddaughters.

A retired secretary, she worked at DAB Industries, ITE Circuit Breaker and the Logan County Soil and Water Conservation office.

A 1943 graduate of DeGraff High School, she was a member of the Harrison Grange for more than 50 years and was an active member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine and its CWF Rachel Circle. An avid camper, she also was a member of the Scotty Camping Club.

Pastor Michael Valentine conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice and the Logan County District Library.
