F. Rosemary Kaeck Compton, 84, of Quincy, died at 6:12 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
She was born in Piqua on Feb. 21, 1923, a daughter of the late Lon and Hazel Derr Purk. On March 10, 1962, she married Norman Kaeck, who preceded her in death in 1988.
On Aug. 1, 1998, she married Curtis G. Compton in Bellefontaine and he survives in Quincy. Other survivors include two sons, Marvin (Anna) Heminger of Bellefontaine and Randy (Mona) Kean of Quincy; two daughters, Elaine (Bob) Salyers of DeGraff and Wilma (Robert) Clark of Kenton; two brothers, John Purk of Sidney and Dale (Nancy) Purk of St. Paris; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Purk; a sister, June Pritchard; and a great-grandson, Lane Smith.
A retired machine operator from Midstates Container Corp. in DeGraff, she was a former mayor of Quincy and a Quincy Village Council member. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and also liked to sew and do crafts.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Bellefontaine. Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, and prior to the service at the church. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
