Janet Hamer Metea, 81, of DeGraff, died at 1:35 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Green Hills Retirement Community, West Liberty.
She was born in Chardon on Aug. 16, 1926, a daughter of the late Lee S. and Amy L. Loffer Hamer. She also was preceded in death by longtime friend Walter Shorf. She is survived by a cousin, Joseph Hamer of Ridgewood, N.J.
A 1944 DeGraff High School graduate, she graduated from The Ohio State University in 1950 and taught high school English and history in Columbus, Grove City and Bellefontaine schools. She was a member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church and the Semper Fidelis Sunday School Class.
The Rev. Julia L. Ronngren conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where calling is one hour prior. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
