1953 - 2008

Alfred Noel Copas, 54, of DeGraff, died at 2:35 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Mary Rutan Hospital.

He was born in Dayton on Dec. 30, 1953, a son of Wilma R. Copas and the late Clifford Copas. He also was preceded in death by brothers, Les, Fred and Michael Copas.

On July 11, 1981, he married the former Belinda J. Sanborn in West Liberty and she survives, along with daughters, Pamela Copas of Jackson Center, and Kaitlyn Copas and Amber (Chris) Stevens, both of DeGraff; and grandchildren, J.J. Frost, Devin, Hailey and Harley Ann Stevens, and Joseph and Coleton Claybaugh.

A 1973 graduate of Newton Local Schools, he was a jet engine mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and collecting, repairing and restoring antique tools.

The Rev. Earl McCall conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where calling is one hour prior. Cremation arrangements were made. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
