JACKSON CENTER - Robert "Bob" Eugene Detrick, 71, Jackson Center, died at 10:18 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta.

He was born on Oct. 31, 1936, in Jackson Center, a son of the late Glenn and Corrine Morris Detrick.

On Jan. 30, 1959, he married D. Jeannie Shaffer in Jackson Center and she died Jan. 18, 2006.

A son, Timothy R. Detrick, preceded him in death on May 17, 1980, and a sister, Donna Jean Preston, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include two brothers, Gerald "Jerry" and Dolores Detrick, Waynesfield, and William Detrick, Miami, Okla.; a sister, Janet Marquez, Denton, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Joyce Shaffer, Richard "Dick" and Carol Shaffer, Carl and Mabel Shaffer and Jack Shaffer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Jackson Center High School.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and worked 22 years at the Farm Bureau-Landmark in Jackson Center and retired in 1982 as branch manager of the fertilizer plant on the north end of town.

He was also licensed with the Ohio Department of Agriculture as a custom pesticide operator and applicator.

The family will receive friends at Auglaize Acres on Friday, April 4, 2008, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Auglaize Acres Chapel, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Julia L. Ronngren officiating. Burial is in the Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Activity Department of Auglaize Acres.
