Charles David Kite, 64, of Quincy, died at 4:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at his home.
He was born December 5, 1943, in Champaign Co., OH, a son of the late Charles Andrew and Pauline Frances Thatcher Kite.
On October 23, 1994, he married Marjorie Elaine Thompson in DeGraff and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Kahouna and two daughters, Lois and Christine all of Oklahoma; two step daughters, Virginia (John) Kelner of Columbus and Cathy Schopfley of Quincy; two step sons, Don (Kaloni) Phillips of Tremont City and Kenny (Robin) Knisley of De Graff and 14 Grand Children.
A 1961 graduate of Graham High School and he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He served 20 years in the Air Force, first as an Operations System Management Supervisor. Then as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician and was a Flight Engineer Technician before retiring in 1981. He received an Air Force Commendation Medal while in the service. After his retirement from the Air Force he taught OSHA safety at the Upper Valley JVS and he also enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the DeGraff Freewill Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, De Graff on Friday, May 2, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held at 10:30 a.m on Saturday, May 3, 2008, with Rev. James Roby officiating. Burial is in the Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, OH.
