Abbie Elizabeth Bowers, 95, of Springhills, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine.
She was born in Gadson County, Fla., on May 29, 1912, a daughter of the late Aubrey and Emma Elizabeth Faircloth LOrange.
On Dec. 15, 1931, she married Jay Dale Bowers in Bainbridge, Ga., and he preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1970. Three brothers, Carl LOrange, Fred LOrange and Henry LOrange; and a sister, L. Jane Kochendorfer, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother, Floyd L. (Jean Ann) Wall of Harrisonburg, Va., and several nieces and nephews.
A licensed practical nurse, she attended Mercy Hospital LPN School, worked in the emergency department of Mary Rutan Hospital for many years, and retired in 1977. She was a member of Springhills Presbyterian Church.
Pastor Angie Schemch conducts a memorial service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Springhills Presbyterian Church. Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff.
Private graveside services at the convenience of the family will be conducted at Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
