Lafe Clinton Grube, 86, of DeGraff, died at 4:25 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2008, at Green Hills Retirement Community, West Liberty.

He was born in Springfield on Oct. 30, 1921, a son of the late Harry Harman and Susan Elizabeth Albright Grube.

On Oct. 19, 1946, he married the former Jane Darlene Ellis in Newport, Ky., and she preceded him in death Feb. 4, 2003. A sister, Ellen Stiver, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Janna D. (Raymond) Chapman of West Liberty and Connie (Gary) Culp of Piqua; six grandchildren, Molly Hairston of West Liberty, Chad (Kendra) Chapman of Wapakoneta, Jeff Culp of Texas, Doug Culp of Troy, and Bob Culp and Rick Culp, both of Piqua; and six greatgrandchildren.

A U.S. Army World War II veteran, he was a truck driver for Paul Wammes and also worked for the DeGraff Lumber Co. for several years. He was a member of the Miami Valley American Legion Post 652 and enjoyed trap shooting and wood crafts.

The Rev. Kenny Cordell conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, where calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
