Herbert Lewis Black, 78, of DeGraff, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born in West Mansfield on March 14, 1930, a son of the late Hobson D. and Esther L. Fry Black. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Robert H. Black; and a sister, Margery Pickett.
On Aug. 10, 1979, he married the former Naomi E. Betty Holycross in DeGraff and she survives, along with one brother, Philip R. (Betty) Black of West Liberty; and two sisters, Rachael Cool of DeGraff and Mary (George) Eirich of Raymond.
A 1954 graduate of DeGraff High School, he mowed yards and delivered papers in the DeGraff area. He was a member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church and former member of the Loganairres Barbershop Chorus.
Rev. Terry Washburn conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where calling is one hour prior. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
