Ruth Maxine Watkins, 79, of Bellefontaine, died at 2:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at Riverside Methodist Hospitals in Columbus.

She was born in Bellefontaine on April 20, 1929, a daughter of the late Harley Raymond and Pearl Lina Pickering Focht.

On March 28, 1972, she married John Daniel Watkins in Bellefontaine and he died May 28, 1991. She also was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles Focht, Gene Focht, Junior Focht, Russell Focht and Leonard Focht; and four sisters, Alice, Dorothy Ward, Edna Cornwell and Naomi Lopez.

Survivors include sons, Robert W. Kennedy of Bellefontaine and William E. (Karen) Kennedy of Bucyrus; daughters, Frances Kennedy of Chillicothe, and Sharon (William) Craig, Shirley (Donald) Queen and Rebecca (Tom) Losey of Bellefontaine; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She retired from Logan Acres, where she was a cook. She attended Bellefontaine Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed cooking, playing cards, fishing, reading and doing word search puzzles.

Pastor Ken Neighoff conducts a funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where calling is two hours prior. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
