Luther Junior Hurley, 86, of Quincy, died at 1:30 AM Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
He was born Thursday, April 5, 1923, in Logan County, OH, a son of the late Luther Leonidas and Rosa Metcalf Hurley.
On July 15, 1967, he married Hazel Edna Edwards in De Graff and she died September 23, 1992. He was also preceded in death by two sisters; Betty Hurley and Esther Brunson, and one brother; Owen "Max" Hurley.
Survivors include; four sons; Thomas E. (Kay) Hurley of Carol Stream, IL, Larry (Rita) Edwards of West Liberty, Keith A. (Robin) Edwards of Saegertown, PA, and Dan (Cindy) Edwards of Dayton, two daughters; Arlene (Terry) Titus of Bellefontaine, and Leneda (Jim) Enright of Westminster, MD, two brothers; Ralph (Audrey) Hurley, and Charles R. (Peggy) Hurley both of Bellefontaine, two sisters; Ruth (Fred) Idle of Marysville, and Janet (Don) Henman of New Carlisle, fourteen grand children, thirteen great grand children, and two great great grand children.
A farmer most of his life he worked for Tanger Farms and he also worked at Westinghouse in Bellefontaine. He was a member of Grace Chapel Church in West Liberty and Gretna Brethren Church. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He was always active at his church where he helped with many construction projects.
The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 from 3 to 7 PM at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, De Graff. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Gretna Brethren Church, with Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Burial is in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
