
Helen Irene Huffman Martin, 98, of De Graff, went to be with her heavenly Father at 1:40 AM Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Villa Springfield.
She was born May 10, 1913, in Zane TWP, Logan County a daughter of the late Pearl and Allie Smith Huffman.
On June 16, 1929 she married John Martin in Kentucky and he died January 24, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a Son; Robert, two Sisters; Effie Huffman and Opal Furrow, and three Brothers; William, Forest and James Huffman.
She is survived by a Son; Philip (Barbara) Martin of Springfield, four Grand Children; Sandra (Joe) Walker of Enon, Stephen Martin of Corinth, KY, Dale Martin of Urbana, and Brian (Jennifer) Martin of St. Paris, five Great Grand Children; Daniel and Sarah Walker, Ashley (Javon) Frank, Jonathan and Christopher Martin.
A homemaker, she was a member of the De Graff United Methodist Church and the Friendly Senior Center in Bellefontaine. She moved to Marion, at a young age, and then returned to Logan County in 1928. She worked at Fuson's IGA in De Graff for a few years but is best remembered for being a Certified Line Dance instructor for the 'Keep Moving' program in Logan County, Springfield and Urbana senior centers. She traveled throughout Europe and Canada performing with the 'Keep Moving' group. She was very active in getting the Friendly Senior Center built and organized in Bellefontaine. A friendly woman with a kind word for everyone, she will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2012 Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, with Rev. Carolyn J. Christman officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until time for the services. Burial is in the Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the De Graff United Methodist Church Building Fund.
