CRAMER, Gerald I.

Paw Paw

Passed away Tuesday evening, May 6, 2003 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence, Kalamazoo after a short illness. Gerald, one of five children was born August 8, 1913 in Hudson, MI. He was a 1931 graduate of Wheaton Academy, Wheaton, IL and a 1953 graduate of Allied Institute of Technology. Gerald served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater and is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2532, Paw Paw where he served as Quartermaster for many years. He was an avid gardener and worked for Tuttle Floral in his early years and then was employed for 26 years at Auto Specialties Manufacturing in Hartford retiring in 1979. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw. After living in Paw Paw for several years he was married by his brother, Richard to the former Irene Belan on August 26, 1939 in Paw Paw. His brother Richard also preformed the reaffirmation of marriage vows 50 years later. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene; daughter, Sharon J. (Jerry) Allaire of Holt, MI; son, Terry L. (Christine) Carmer of Grosse Point Woods, MI; 8 grandchildren, Jay Allaire, Carey Allaire, Jill Donaldson, Erin Allaire, Elizabeth Cramer, Robert Cramer, Derek Hellenga and Dustin Hellenga, living in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Virginia; four great grandchildren, Roland Allaire, Cale Allaire, Sierra Donaldson and Eli Allaire; brother, Darby Cramer of Tecumseh, MI; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda S. Cramer on November 12, 2000. Family will receive friends Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the new location of the ADAMS Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2003, 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw with Rev. C. William Weis officiating. Interment will be in Wildey Cemetery, Paw Paw with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Van Buren County Hospice.
