Passed away Sunday morning, January 5, 2003 at LakeView Continuing Care Center, Lawton. Sylvia was born February 22, 1904 in Orleans, MI the daughter of George H. and Etta (Root) Hoyt. Sylvia taught in Rural Schools in Van Buren County, Ionia, Mattawan, Lawton and Eau Claire. She was a member of the “I Am” Saint Germain Foundation, Past Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, member of the Van Buren County Retired School Personnel, Van Buren County Farm Bureau, A.A.R.P. #1509 and the Van Buren County Home Extension Group. On June 3, 1926 in Bangor, MI, Sylvia was united in marriage to Andrew B. Coy who preceded her in death on February 15, 1950. Surviving are a son; George (Margaret) Coy of Kalamazoo; 3 daughters, Geraldine (Fred) Helmke of Mt. Shasta, CA, Shirley (Paul) Van De Lester of Battle Creek and Mary May Coy of Paw Paw; 5 grandchildren; 8 great Grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. 3 brothers, Arthur, Leon and Herman Hoyt, and a sister, Olive Peterson preceded Sylvia in death. There will be no visitation or services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Daughters of the American Revolution Martin Van Buren Chapter thru the funeral home. Arrangements by the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw, Michigan.
