Passed away Thursday afternoon, Feb. 13, 2003 at her home. Gertrude was born April 15, 1919 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Fred and Ellen (O’Rourke) Young. She was a member of St. John Bosco Church, Mattawan. On November 15, 1941 in Chicago, IL, Gertrude was united in marriage to Jacob John Medonich who preceded her in death on March 30, 1990. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Bond of Mattawan; grandson, Benjamin Knowlton of Kalamazoo; granddaughter, Jillian Green of Kalamazoo; 2 great grandchildren, Elora Green and Gavin Fults; brother, Alfred Young of Horseshoe Bend, AR; 2 sisters, Lucille Buckels of Oak Forest, IL and Edna Ames Bloomington, MN; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Monday, 4-6 p.m. at the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, 11 a.m. at St. John Bosco Church, Mattawan with Rev. Fr. Bogdan Werra Celebrant. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Lung, Assoc. or the American Heart Assoc.
