Passed away Saturday morning, January 18, 2003 at his home. Darrell was born December 9, 1926 in Three Rivers, MI the son of the late Berto and Mildred (Heslett) Crose. He was a member of the U.S. army Air Corp serving in World War II in the South Pacific. Darrell was a graduate of Three Rivers High School class of 1944 and received a A.B. and an M.A. from Western Michigan University. He completed his post-graduate work at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. He was a retired Public School Administrator; 5 years in the Niles Public Schools and 33 years in the Paw Paw Public Schools. He was a member of the Paw Paw United Methodist Church, American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post #68, Paw Paw, Member of the Board of LakeView Community Hospital, Trustee of Paw Paw Township, Volunteer of Hospice of Van Buren County, Member and Past Secretary/Treasurer of the Paw Paw Optimist Club, past member of the Kalamazoo Child Guidance Clinic, charter member and Past President of the Van Buren County Dept. of Mental Health, Past President of the Paw Paw Public Library Board and Past Member and Secretary of the United Way Board. On August 25, 1951 in Three Rivers, MI, Darrell was united in marriage to the former Clara E. Slote who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Michelle (Jack) Cook of Saline, MI; grandson, Thomas Cook; Son, Stuart (Deborah) Crose of Chicago, IL; Sister, Patricia (Jack) Colvin of Berrien Springs, MI; brothers, Sybert Crose of Three Rivers, and Corwin (Marguirete) Crose of Three Rivers; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a sister, Delores Birkhold. Family will receive friends Monday 6-8 p.m. at the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, 2 p.m. at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Paw Paw United Methodist Church or the Paw Paw Educational Foundation.
